You are in control at ALL times. The therapist is only there to guide you through your experience and offer suggestions that you have agreed upon on together in the strategic session.

Can I remain stuck in a trance state?

Hypnosis is very safe and you are in full control throughout the entire process. You can choose to come out of hypnosis at any time by just choosing to open your eyes or speak etc. Hypnosis is just a state of increased focus and awareness that we all go into and out of everyday like when we meditate, just before we go to sleep and before waking up, whilst driving or watching a movie etc.

How long will it take to change a behaviour?

Whilst our sessions are not a magic fix, they typically take between 4 to 6 sessions to see a change. There still has to be a willingness to want change and commitment to the treatment plan in order for it to be effective.

How does strategic therapy differ from normal counselling/ talk therapy?

Strategic therapy is brief goal-oriented therapy focussed on exploring ‘how’ you run problem behaviours rather than diving into and rehashing past uncomfortable details.

How does hypnotherapy help?

Hypnotherapy is used to deliver new skills uncovered from the strategic session. By tapping straight into the subconscious mind where our core beliefs, values and emotions are stored, the process of change is fast tracked, cutting out the need for ongoing lengthy counselling or ‘talk therapy’ sessions. Hypnosis allows you to focus on your subconscious inner mind, therefore cutting out the conscious mind, negative chatter and resistance, therefore making change easier.

What does a neurofeedback session look like?

Clients come into our office and sit in a comfortable chair in front of a screen with some colourful changing imagery. 3 sensors are placed on the clients ear lobes and 2 on the clients scalp. They then wear some headphones which they can hear very relaxing music through. The neurofeedback session lasts for 33 minutes. However please allow at least 50 minutes for the session to attach sensors and track progress.

Will I notice a change straight away?

Some people notice a small change after their first session, however most people notice changes after about 5 to 8 sessions.

Will neurofeedback interfere with the medications I`m taking?

No it will not. Medications should continue to be taken as prescribed by your medical practitioner. We can work with you and your medical practitioner to have your medications reviewed and possibly reduced or eliminated depending on the results of the neurofeedback.

Are there any side effects from neurofeedback?

There have never been any side effects reported from neurofeedback as there is nothing being put into or coming out of the brain/ central nervous system.

How long to the changes/ results last?

Neurofeedback will last a long time as it is very much the same as learning a new skill such as reading, riding a bike or learning to walk etc… Though some people do find that that they may need a few top up sessions sometime down the track.
